My Trip to Southbend…
One of the benefits of working in the hospitality industry is that people are generally hospitable. This could not be proven more accurate then on a recent trip to the Southbend equipment company As a member of the sales team, it is of great benefit to have hands on product knowledge of the restaurant equipment I am selling and how equipment is made. In late January I traveled to North Carolina to learn about Southbend’s products and what separates them from the rest of the restaurant equipment manufacturers in the equipment sector of our business. I was thoroughly impressed.
Joining me on this trip was a coworker, and both of us grew up in restaurants using restaurant supplies and restaurant equipment. We know these products because we use them, beat them up, and expect them to work every day. The unusual part of this trip is that neither of us had any detailed product knowledge of Southbend. We went with the thought of “I am going to really find out if this a product I would want in my own kitchen…” We slammed doors, kicked hinges, stood on oven door handles to see if they would support our weight, and gave the technicians and executives who had the unenviable task of guiding us through our day a grilling they won’t soon forget. Once again, I was thoroughly impressed. The products were incredibly well built, the staff more knowledgeable then any I have ever met. The dedication was evident from our tour of the factory floor to the human resources offices. The level of professionalism was one you would expect in a bank, not a factory. It was a team environment that encouraged people to express their point of view, and if they thought they had a good idea, they were encouraged to articulate it. I walked away from my weekend at Southbend wishing I had been selling their products more often, which I now will make sure to do. Long story short, I was thoroughly impressed… Adam Deutschmann

20 years of restaurant supply experience
When I joined The Restaurant Source in 1984 it was a small restaurant supply company. In the twenty plus years of employment, we have grown into the Rocky Mountain Regions premier Restaurant Equipment and Supply Company. In the beginning the Company distributed Restaurant China, Restaurant Flatware, Wholesale Glassware, and Commercial Cookware. We are now a full line distributor of Commercial Refrigeration, Commercial Ice Makers, Countertop Equipment, and all types of Food Prep Equipment. The Restaurant Source now distributes any type of Restaurant Supply except for the food. We are a one-stop-shop for all of your Restaurant Equipment and Supply needs, with everything sold at wholesale or below pricing.

Restaurant Consulting - New products
After thirty years of designing food service equipment into restaurants, hotels and schools I have seen some very innovative products become the standard specified and provided equipment. Some manufactures have only changed certain items in their product lines, while others have done nothing to improve their products... One of the new innovative items which have just been introduced in the last 18 months is the new Berkel X-13 Meat Slicer. This new slicer has a number of new features that not only make it NSF Approved but also FDA Approved. The two biggest items are the one piece base and the use of engineered polymers in its production. The use of this material will certainly be incorporated in the future of the food service industry, especially in the food preparation areas. The lighter weight of this slicer allows for easier cleaning, and sanitizing. This unit also has a one half horse power motor and a diamond sharpening tool. This unit runs on 115 volt AC with 3 wire cord and plug. Also note that the cutting blade is S/S and the carriage table and handles are ergonomically designed for easy use.

Factory Training
I enjoy working at The Restaurant Source because it is a family owned and operated company. I feel my employer appreciates me as an employee. I have been with the company about one year. The last year has been a great learning experience. My co- workers are a tremendous help and we all work as a team. I recently sold fourteen pieces of Commercial Refrigeration to a new club called Pulse in Maryland. This was my biggest sale this year. I enjoy helping customers on the phone as well as in the showroom. In April, I had the opportunity to visit the Homer Laughlin China Company for training. It was an incredible trip. I learned a great deal about Restaurant China. I also enjoy selling Catering Equipment and Tabletop Supplies. Our customers tell me all the time we have the cleanest and most organized Restaurant Supply Company in town.

A typical day in Sales
My name is Pete and I really enjoy working at The Restaurant Source because everyday is different, there are no two days the same. I like that you never know who will walk through the front door and need help figuring out the right kind of Restaurant Flatware or Restaurant China for their place. When you pick up the phone and talk to someone from Rhode Island or California and they want your help with some questions they have on Restaurant Equipment they see on the web site. I also really like that we can be someone’s one stop shop, there is know reason to go any place else.
Right now I am working with a gentleman from Tampa Bay, Florida, who is opening up a new place, he went on our web site and thought our pricing was amazing, he called and talked to me and it looks like when all is said and done he will be close to spending over 50 thousand dollars on different Restaurant supplies. If everything goes well he would like to use us for the other stores he plans on opening in the next couple of years.

We have what you need
What I like about working at The Restaurant Source is that I am constantly busy. My day flies by and everyday I learn something new, even though I have been here over sixteen years. Each day brings something new, whether it is concerning Commercial Refrigeration, Food Prep Equipment, or any other Restaurant Equipment or Restaurant Supplies.
I have developed many loyal customers who call me or come in to see me and depend on my wealth of knowledge, experience and service. I enjoy meeting their needs and those of new customers as well.

Voted - Top Kitchen Store
"Why its tops: If you aspire to be as good as the chef at your favorite gourmet restaurant, rip out your fancy, designer kitchen and replace it with restaurant-grade equipment, such as heavy-duty Southbend range, professional reach-in refrigerators and steam tables. Open weekdays, this business also carries utensils, china and glasses by the case, as well as professional chef's hats."
